About skillPOOL’s professional framework – way to overview the largest processes

skillPOOL was founded by significant small and medium sized IT companies, as seen in former blog entries. Goal of skillPOOL is to provide powerful project teams tailored to banking sector's IT projects. It is also a goal to implement project successfully utilizing the participant companies’ strengths.

Achieving this goal requires a thoroughly organized, proved framework.

Reinventing the wheel…

… is not needed again, because IT sector has created many frameworks to discover and organize comprehensive processes.

Probably, eTOM sounds familar for many. It is enhanced Telecom Operation Map. Basics of skillPOOL’s framework has borrowed this one. 

It is a hierarchical catalog of the key business processes required to run a service-focused business. At the conceptual level, the framework has three major process areas, reflecting major focuses within typical enterprises:

• Strategy, Infrastructure lifecycle, and Product lifecycle
• Operations
• Enterprise Management

As mentioned, eTOM served as a base model for our framework. Our framework is called eBOM – enhanced Bank Operation Map. Thus, eBOM is a guidebook that classifies and defines the business activities used by banks when delivering services.

It is obvious that first hierarchical level is similar to the one of the telecom industry. This coincidence is intentional, because main process groups are also similar at the service providers, either they are bank or telecom.

Specialized bank industry’s properties can be identified when looking at the second hierarchy level.
